NYPD vs FDNY baseball 2023 Citi Field is a charity game called Battle of the Badges. The game is scheduled for 17th August 2023 at the New York Mets ballpark.

New York Mets are one of the oldest baseball teams in the major league. They compete in the East division of the National League and are one of two teams based in New York.

They were founded in 1962 as one of the first expansion teams in Major League Baseball. The franchise has won six Division titles, five National League pennants, and two World Series titles.

The club has a loyal fanbase who have supported the team through highs and lows. Mets have several promotional events and theme nights scheduled in their calendar every season.

Battle of the Badges charity baseball game is an annual event held at Citi Field.

NYPD FDNY baseball game 2023 Citi Field was scheduled for Thursday, August 10, at 7:10 p.m. However, the event was rescheduled for August 17 due to rain forecast.

The annual Fire Department of New York (FDNY) vs. New York Police Department (NYPD) charity baseball game is presented by Ford. Former seven-time All-Star and New York Mets captain David Wright is set to host the game.

The pre-game ceremony will include a program where Wright will honor FDNY and NYPD heroes for doing The Wright Thing. The event scheduled for August 10 had to be postponed due to a rain forecast.

The game is rescheduled for August 17 at 7:10 p.m. The parking lots at the Citi Field will open at 5:00 p.m., and the ballpark gates will open half an hour later.

Each team will feature former high school, college, and minor league players who are now members of NYPD or FDNY. The historic series is tied, with both teams winning twelve games each.

Last season, NYPD came from behind to defeat the Fire Department with a score of 9-6 in front of a crowd of 3,500 spectators at Citi Field. New York Mets catcher James McCann also attended the charity game.

The fans visiting the ballpark cannot bring backpacks into the Mets' home ground other than allowed in the Citi Field Bag Policy. This policy is kept in place for the safety purpose of the visitors.

FDNY vs NYPD Baseball Tickets

Battle of the Badges Citi Field scheduled for August 17, has general admission tickets at $20. The money collected from the tickets goes toward a local charity.

Last year, the New York-based team raised over $83,000 through ticket sales for NYPD and FDNY charities. In addition, the event sponsor, Ford, donated $20,000 to NYPD and FDNY local charities.

The proceeds from the upcoming charity game through tickets and concession sales will also benefit FDNY and NYPD-designated charities. The charities associated with FDNY and NYPD organizations are The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, the Police Benevolent Association Widows and Children’s Fund, NY Firefighters Burn Center Foundation, and Uniformed Firefighters Association NYC Widows and Children’s Fund.

There are three types of tickets available for the promotional event. The first type is the general public tickets, whereas the remaining are NYPD and FDNY designated tickets. The prices of all the tickets start at $20.

The Battle of the Badges charity game is a tribute to the sacrifice and bravery of the FDNY and NYPD officials who protect and serve the city of New York while risking their lives. The game also celebrates their talent and passion for the game of baseball.

Mets NYPD vs FDNY game is rescheduled for Thursday, August 17. The event was supposed to happen a week before but had to be postponed due to a rain forecast.
