Beverly Turner, also known as Bev Turner, is a popular and controversial news anchor for GB News.

Bev Turner was born in Prestwich, Lancashire on the 21st of Octorber, 1973. She has a first class degree in English Literature and Language from the University of Manchester.

Turner calls herself a writer; radio / TV presenter and small business owner. She has worked for plenty of popular TV news outlets such as BBC and This Morning. She has been quite popular with the British folks. Likewise, she is well known for her charming and pleasant appeal towards her viewers.

However, being charming and pleasant isn't the only thing she's been known for. Turner has quite a reputation for speaking out on extremely controversial topics and giving her take which didn't appeal to most people.

On July 21st, GB News UK was doing a part on weather when the British meteorologist warned the viewers that the upcoming extreme heat wave would potentially lethal.

Now, climate change is a topic of great controversy among people. Even though the news anchor knew about it, it did not stop her from telling the meteorologist to be happy about the weather and completely rejecting the forecast given by a professional meterologist who knows what he's doing.

It did not take long for the viewers to go on Twitter to rant about how the news bit looked exactly like the news denial scene from the Netflix TV Series "Don't look up".

The meterologist John Hammond said on GB News "by early next week, you can scratch 20 degrees, it could well be 40 degrees. I think there will be hundreds, if not thousands, of excess deaths. This will not be nice weather. This will be potentially lethal weather. It will be brief but it will be deadly ".

To that, turner replied with "I want us to be happy about the weather. I don't know wether something to meterologists to make you all a little bit fatalistic and harbingers of doom."

Ben Phillips tweeted something on this matter which got about 29.5 Million views.

The Twitter clip shows, the exchange is almost identical to a scene in Don't Look Up, the Netflix show that uses a comet coming to destroy the Earth as a metaphor for climate change.

In that scene, Jennifer Lawrence's character goes on the news to warn people that "the entire planet is about to be destroyed." but is not taken seriously but the achors by saying "We just keep the bad news light"

Not too long after that, Turner further asked Hammond whether the current hot weather was actually worse than the past heat waves, pointing out to the summer of 1976 when temperatures in the UK had reached 35 degrees Celsius.

To which Hammond replied " The heat wave was, of course, cooler than what's happening now.The emperatures were a "freak event." Today, heat waves are becoming more extreme, and they're happening more regularly.

Unfortuanately for Turner, Hammond's forcast was correct. The UK did reach temperatures of 40 Degrees Celsius (104 Degrees Fahrenheit) which was declared as the hottest day in UK history.

The Meteorological office, the UK's national weather service, issued a “red extreme” heat warning for the first time ever. Heat is considered to be the deadliest of all weather events. Apart from heatwave deaths, wildfires is also something be looked out for. Wildfires fueled by the high temperatures have killed people in other parts of Europe too.

Even after the backlash, Turner stands firm on her opinion as she tweeted that she still considers the dangerously high and lethal temperatures to be "hyperbole."
