Gloria Allred Family And Personal Life
Gloria was born on July 3, 1941, in Philadelphia, to a Jewish working-class family. Morris, her father, was a salesman, and Stella, her British-born mother, was a housewife.
In her autobiography, she mentions being raped at gunpoint while on vacation in Acapulco in 1966. She found that she was pregnant and decided to abort it. Because abortion was illegal at the time, Allred got an abortion in a back alley. She began hemorrhaging and became infected following the procedure, and she only recovered after being admitted to the hospital. She claimed she did not report the rape because she did not feel anyone would believe her.
She attended the University of Pennsylvania after graduating from the Philadelphia High School for Girls, where she met her first husband, Peyton Huddleston Bray Jr. On September 20, 1961, the couple gave birth to their only child, Lisa Bloom, and divorced soon after.
Then, in December 1969, she married William Allred. She divorced her spouse in 1987, over two decades after they had been married.
