Latrell Sprewell's Career Trajectory - NBA
The 1994's All-NBA First Team player had not always taken basketball seriously until his senior year at high school.
Sprewell made the team despite having no prior experience with organized play and in his first year, he averaged 28 points per game.
Throughout his career, Sprewell played for the Golden State Warriors (1992–1998), the New York Knicks (1999–2003), and the Minnesota Timberwolves (2003-2005).
Sprewell had a reputation as one of the best mid-range players in the league early on, earning four NBA All-Star game selections.
His reputation started plummeting in 1999 after he choked and threatened to kill his head coach, P. J. Carlesimo, leaving a lasting stain on his career. This cost him an entire season of NBA as he got suspended for 68 games.
20 years ago today, Latrell Sprewell choked his coach, P.J. Carlesimo, during a practice. The incident reportedly started when PJ told Spree to "put a little mustard" on a pass.

He came back with the Knicks and even played a crucial role in getting them to the NBA finals. Then in 2003, he joined Timberwolves. But his career soon ended after he rejected the Timberwolves' 3-year extension contract, insisting that the $21 Millions they were offering would not even be enough to feed his kids.
