Scholarships for Nursing Students

AORN offers scholarships to nursing students who are pursuing careers in perioperative nursing (working in the operating room) with enrollment in an accredited bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree program.

To qualify for an AORN Foundation scholarship, you need to show proof of completing courses with grades of 3.0 or higher, along with receipts of eligible expenses. Once you submit these documents, they'll process a check for the amount you paid within 10-15 business days. 

Remember, they only reimburse for classes taken between August 1 and September 30 of the academic year you received the scholarship. And the expenses they cover are tuition fees and the cost of books. Plus, international students are eligible.

The selection of winners is based on academics/transcripts, essays, financial need, and accurate completion of the scholarship application.

Types of Scholarships Available:

• Academic Scholarships: This is for students studying perioperative nursing or for registered nurses who want to advance their education in this field.
• Certification Grants: They help to cover the costs of CNOR, CSSM, And CNAMB certification exams.
• Professional Development Grants: These grants are here to help nurses stay skilled and give top-notch care. 
• Research Grants: Designed to support research and use of evidence-based practices in Perioperative nursing.

This is a prestigious award aimed at promoting nursing as a career and encouraging the involvement of new nurses in the Red Cross. By honoring the legacy of Jane Delano and her contributions to nursing during World War I, this scholarship continues to inspire and support the next generation of nurses in their educational and professional ambitions.

This scholarship is available to nursing students, both undergraduate and graduate, who have contributed volunteer service to or are employees of an American Red Cross Unit in the last five years.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Completed at least one year of college/university credits.
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program accredited in the United States.
• Maintain good academic standing as an undergraduate or graduate student.

Types of Scholarships Available: 

• Jane Delano Student Nurse Scholarship: General Scholarship for nursing students with $3,000 of coverage.
• Navin Narayan College Scholarship: Scholarship for high school seniors planning to attend a four-year college or university with up to $1,000 per year of coverage.
• Leaders Save Lives Scholarships: Scholarship for high school and college students hosting blood drives with coverage that varies, with gift cards and scholarship entries for collecting 25+ pints.

FNSNA was created in 1969 to honor Frances Tompkins, the Association's first Executive Director. They had started this program with the mission of promoting the nursing profession and with the vision of a thriving, diverse nursing workforce leading healthcare to improve the quality of life for all.

The applicant must be registered at a state-approved school of nursing or pre-nursing. Further, if you are a graduate candidate then you must be pursuing your first nursing degree. The selection is based on academic achievement, financial need, and involvement in student nursing organizations and community service-related health care.

They provide the scholarship from $1,000 to $7,500  per academic year. These payments are made to the recipient's school and are used to offset the cost of tuition, educational fees, and books. Any unused funds must be returned to FNSNA at the end of the year.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Completed at least one year of college/university credits.
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program accredited in the United States.
• Maintain good academic standing as an undergraduate or graduate student.

Coursey Enterprises Students Scholarships open the door to grants for first-year nursing students. They offer two scholarships every spring and fall semester, each in the amount of $250.00.

If you are applying for spring scholarships then apply between September 1st and December 1st. They will be awarded in January.

Likewise, candidates applying for the fall scholarships must apply between February 1st and June 1st. They will be awarded in September.

The remarkable award, DAR Caroline E. Holt Nursing Scholarship recognizes the hard work and dedication of three exceptional students who are chasing a career in nursing. This one-time scholarship is open to those who have been accepted or are currently registered in an accredited nursing school.

You must submit a one-page resume and at least two, but no more than four, recommendations to apply for the scholarship. Each year three students get $2,500 of coverage in their studies.

If you are a first-time undergraduate student with at least a first semester completed in a U.S. nursing school then this scholarship is for you. Applicants must write a compelling essay describing their personal story.

Furthermore, in their essay, they should also include what has inspired them to follow a nursing career, and how this scholarship will help them achieve their goals. The coverage of a $1,000 nursing scholarship applies to undergraduate, master's, and Ph.D. nursing students.

 Eligibility Criteria:

• Legal US residents
• At least 18 years of age
• GPA must be 2.5 or higher

The Nurses Make a Difference Scholarship is an annual $1,000 scholarship awarded by Cascade Healthcare Solutions. It is for those desiring nurses who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate nursing program at a college or university.

However, high school students who have been accepted into a school with an undergraduate nursing program are also eligible to apply. The application deadline is annually on August 1.

Eligibility Criteria:

• All applicants must have an average GPA of at least 3.0
• Be a legal resident of the USA or hold a valid student visa.
• The winning applicant must verify enrollment at an undergraduate school with a nursing program, or acceptance into a school with an undergraduate nursing program.
• Plus, winning candidates must also provide a profile photo and brief biography to be displayed on their website and social media.
• Employees or family members of Cascade Healthcare Solutions are not eligible to participate.

To be eligible for these scholarships, your college GPA, along with your academic records in medical school, nursing, or pharmacy, will be considered. Community involvement and volunteer service are also important factors, as well as the content of your essay.

Here are the details of the awards: Ten scholarships worth $10,000 each are available annually, and they are not renewable. Additionally, there are twenty-five scholarships worth $5,000 each, also awarded annually and not renewable. The scholarship funds will cover tuition fees, as well as books, supplies, and equipment required for a full-time course load.

To qualify, your institution must be a licensed, nonprofit college or university in the United States.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Be a resident of the 50 United States, Puerto Rico, or the District of Columbia.
• Have at least 1 year of school remaining.
• Eligible undergraduate students must have completed at least 1 year of study by the application deadline.
• Employees of Johnsson & Johnson Consumer Inc., McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division, International Scholarship, and Tuition Services Inc.,

HRSA Nurse Corps Scholarship Program accepts all nursing students who are enrolled in a verified diploma, associate, baccalaureate, or graduate degree nursing program.

To apply for this program candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. They should be free from any federal judgments claims or existing service commitment, and not overdue on a federal debt. They must also be willing to work at an eligible organization with a critical shortage of nurses after they graduate.

After students are enrolled in this program, they'll get coverage of tuition, required fees, other reasonable costs, and a monthly living allowance.

This program is open to entry-level students working on their first professional degree in a pre-licensure program at an American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) member school.

Applicants must submit a 250-word essay on their goals and aspirations as related to their education, career, and future plans. Selection is based on academic performance, each individual must maintain at least a 3.2 grade point average in their current program or last school attended.

The scholarship provides $2,500 coverage per student. Applications remain open from September 1 and February 1.

The Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation Scholarship Program

• Candidates must have a GPA of 3.4 or higher, a minimum SAT score of 1200 (out of 1600) or 1800 (out of 2400), or a minimum ACT score of 25.
• The scholarship amount is approximately $100,000, and special considerations are given to applicants whose parents didn't attend college, are current U.S. military service members, or U.S. veterans. Additionally, applicants with a demonstrated financial need or a documented significant disability will also be favored.

The McKelvey Foundation Scholarship

• This scholarship is for high school seniors who will be the first in their families to attend college.
• A total of 125 scholarships valued at $12,000 each are awarded and valid for 4-year college in the resident's home states.

Scholarships for Single Parents

This scholarship is for single parents who are trying to raise their living standards by earning an education. 

Women's Independence Scholarships Program, Inc. 

• Single mothers with young children who have survived domestic violence and separated from an abusive partner for at least one year.
• The grade should be 2.75 or higher
• The coverage amount will be between $250 and $5,000.
