German-born Lütke can speak two languages, German as well as English. He moved to Canada in 2002, where he also knows Canadian citizens. He started his business in Canada in 2004.
2. Dropped Out of School to Focus On Computer Programming
At six, his parents brought him a computer; since then, Tobias has been interested in computers. When he was 11 and 12, he started writing the code for the video game he used to play.
Tobias has also interested in computer hardware, making and modifying it. Tobias dropped out his school in 10th grade to enter the apprenticeship program at the Koblenzer Carl Benz School to become a programmer.
3. His Business Started Out As an Online Snowboard Shop
After Tobias moved to Canada from Germany in 2002, he started an online e-commerce company called Snowdevil, an online snowboard shop, with his partner Daniel Weinand and Scott Lake in 2004.
4. Tobi Lutke Established a New Online E-Commerce Platform
After the success of his first online e-commerce, Snowdevil, Luke launched his new e-commerce platform Shopify in 2006.
He owned 7% of the share when it went in public in 2015. He was named the CEO of the year by The Globe and Mail in November 2014.
5. Received a Schneider CPC As a Child
Lutke receives his first computer from his parents. It was Schneider CPC at the age of six, A german brand of the Amstrad Colour Personal Computer distributed by Schneider Rundfunkwerke AG. He was very interested in computers.
